Wizardry Online Description

Wizardry Online is a fantasy MMORPG based on the original Wizardry RPG series, popularized on MS-DOS and later PC games. Players in Wizardry Online can choose one of the fantastic races in the world: Human, Dwarf, Elf, Gnome, and Porkul. Interestingly, the Dwarf race can only be male while the Gnome race can only be female.

Each race has their own base stat ratings in the following: HP, MP, STR, VIT, DEX, AGI, INT, PIE, and LUC. In addition to the starting base stats, players get a random number of bonus points to allocate. There will also be additional bonus points when class change is achieved. A starting character must also choose an alignment between Lawful, Neutral, and Chaotic. Alignments can affect the availability of classes. Priests cannot be Neutral, while Thieves cannot be Lawful.

Once a race is chosen, there are 4 character classes to select. Fighter, Priest, Thief, and Mage. Aside from the Thief and Priest requiring a specific Alignment, Classes in Wizardry Online also require a minimum rating of 8 in a relevant Stat. Fighters need a STR of 8, Priest a PIE of 8, Thief needs DEX 8, and the Mage needs INT 8.

Later on, there are advanced classes that can be unlocked. These are the Samurai, Bishop, Ninja, and Lord. These advanced classes will often have hybrid abilities. For instance, the Lord gains the defensive tree of the Fighter and the health recovery of the Priest. Meanwhile, the Bishop has dual element spells that combine the abilities of Mage and Priest classes.

Wizardry Online offers a wide and open world to explore. PvE encounters with enemies, creatures, and monsters are plenty. However, Wizardry Online also has a constant PvP mechanic. An interesting mechanic about this version is that allies can also cause friendly fire. Players who indulge in PvP will have to be careful, however. Wizardry Online tags player killers as Criminals. This is also the case for players who cast healing and buff spells on Criminals. Characters marked as Criminals will be attacked on sight by town guards.
