RIFT Description
Rift takes place in the world of Telara. It is a nexus of other planes, such as the Air, Fire, Water, Earth, Death, and Life elemental and magical realms. Every plane of existence is overseen by a draconic god-like being. The central conflict is between the Guardians and the Defiants, taking their own approaches in battling the plans of Regulos, the Dragon of Extinction.
Characters in Rift are created using the Soul system. After choosing their race (Dwarves, High Elves and Mathosian for Guardian faction; Bahmi, Eth, and Kelari for Defiant Faction), players select the Souls their character will have. Every Soul in Rift is a class in itself, which can be combined with other Souls.
Rift has a wide variety of Soul combinations, for a total of 336 potential mixtures of class combos. Players can choose up to three Souls during creation. Players can equip Souls of a specific Calling (such as Warrior, Cleric, Mage, or Rogue). Each Soul in Rift unlocks and builds on skills. For instance, a Warrior can have access to the Paladin, Reaver, or Warlord Soul.
A player can acquire and use up to 66 skill points as their character reaches higher levels. Aside from the gameplay abilities, characters in Rift can be customized through hairstyles, facial shapes, height, tattoos, and skin tone during creation. Players in Rift can join PVP Warfronts to earn favor to acquire unique gear and PVP only Souls.
