Mabinogi Description
Mabinogi is an MMORPG set in the mystical world of Erinn. The artstyle of Mabinogi is heavily anime inspired, from the characters to the environments and monsters. An interesting mechanic with Mabinogi is the option to use the Rebirth system, allowing a single character to continuously be replayed, gaining new skills and abilities by accumulating experience with other talents, skills, and quest rewards.
Characters in Mabinogi are generated using Character Cards. Players can create up to 6 characters for free, with more Character Cards available through the in-game store. Players first choose their character's race from a selection of three options: Human, Giant, and Elf. An unusual character detail is determining the character's age. Age determines their initial stats as well as the number of Ability Points (AP) gained during level up.
Instead of a class system, Mabinogi uses a skill system. Any character can gain ranks in skills. There are basic skills such as Combat, Magic, and Alchemy, to more unusual skills like Celestial, Demigod, and Hidden. Skills can be raised up to 16 ranks each.
Combat in Mabinogi is less action-oriented and more tactical than most other MMORPGs. Precision and timing are crucial to survival, with avoiding hits being preferred rather than absorbing damage. Aside from combat, there are a plethora of other skills that Mabinogi players can get into, including composing music and creating homesteads where they can build items, ornaments, and farm for resources.
