World of Darkness Description

World of Darkness was intended to be an open-world MMORPG set in the modern horror setting from the tabletop games. For the initial release, it was supposed to focus on Vampire: The Masquerade, the first and arguably most popular of the Storyteller games (the proprietary system of White Wolf's series of roleplaying games).

Players in World of Darkness would begin as humans that were sired into one of the major vampire clans of the Camarilla. These clans would be the Brujah, Nosferatu, Toreador, Tremere, Gangrel, Malkavian, and Ventrue, each with their own powers (called Disciplines), Traits, and limitations. Expansions to World of Darkness would have added the other supernatural groups such as Werewolf Tribes, Mage Traditions, and such.

Ghouls were intended to play the role of NPCs that serve the player characters. They would be companions and source of blood, the main resource that Vampires have to replenish. Vampires would also be able to hunt for blood with random NPCs, using either social abilities or physical force. For instance, Vampires like the Ventrue or Toreador could charm humans, while Nosferatu and Brujah could use their physical might to overpower unwilling victims.
