City of Steam (also known as City of Steam: Arkadia) was an MMORPG with fantasy and steampunk elements. The game was set in a fictional version of Industrial Revolution era England.

Players choose one of the available races Avens, Heartlanders, Ostenians, Stoigmari, Draug, Riven, Goblin, Orcs, and Hobbes. Most races have a limited access to the playable character classes, except for the Heartlanders. City of Steam had 4 classes: Arcanist, Gunner, Warder, and Channeler.

Players could travel using steam trains and were guided by Billboards. Billboards in City of Steam displayed the quests and missions they could undertake, including their main storyline and side quests. There are also PvP instances that could occur when player characters are in the same location.
